Here on the Canadian Prairies, we take Spring SERIOUSLY. The winters are long, and while we’re great at weathering them we make a point of enjoying the sun – Saskatchewan really gets out and MOVES once the snow starts to melt. It’s a joyful time, and a great opportunity to visit. Check out some of these fun events so you can join the fun!

Traditionally, spring has been important because it means fresh vegetables are finally available – that’s why the German Canadian Society puts on Spargelfest every year. “Spargel,” of course, is German for “asparagus” – it’s just more fun to say! April 13 and 14, the Regina German Club hosts a multi-course dinner prepared by a local chef that showcases this seasonal ingredient in all its glory. Come appreciate freshness and great taste in an intimate and fun setting that is open to the public. Details available here.

The Regina Police Service half-marathon returns for its 15th – and final! – year! April 29 this fun, friendly event will let everyone get out into the sun and get some fresh air and exercise. It’s been a great event and fundraiser for the RPS, but unfortunately this will be the final one. Get out and enjoy it while you can!
